Medical flight from Brindisi to Linate for urgent specialist care

Last Saturday a Salentine patient of 57 years, suffering from a very serious respiratory pathology, was transferred urgently from Brindisi to Milan aboard an aircraft of the Air Force suitably equipped for the transport of stretches, to allow the immediate hospitalization at the 'Galeazzi' hospital in the Lombard capital.

The urgent transport was requested by the Lecce prefecture to the situation of the General Staff of the Italian Air Force (Rome), which ordered the immediate use of the aircraft of the 31 ° Stormo of Ciampino (Rome), given the serious conditions of the patient's health was in imminent danger of life.

The aircraft, a Falcon 900 Easy II / 50, coming from the military airport of Ciampino (Rome), arrived at the Brindisi airport in the late morning and, after boarding the patient, thanks to a special lifting equipment (ambulift) disposed by the airport company "Aeroporti di Puglia" of Brindisi, it is divided at the time of the Milan Linate airport. 

The patient, assisted during the flight by a medical staff of the "Vito Fazzi" hospital in Lecce and accompanied by some family members, arrived at the airport of the Lombard capital, was immediately transferred, aboard an ambulance, to the hospital " Galeazzi ”, to receive the necessary specialist care.

The aircraft of the 31 ° Stormo of Ciampino are used for the transport of state and for missions of public utility, such as emergency medical transport of patients, serious traumatized and organs for transplants, as well as for interventions in favor of people in risk situations . The latter is an activity that, due to the imminent danger of life of the people transported, imposes an adequate level of readiness, twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year.
