In recent months there have been many alternatives to the top of the main operational departments of the Italian Air Force and, without wishing to harm anyone, this time we want to dedicate a particular relevance to what happened today in Grosseto.

We are in fact happy to see taking the command of the prestigious 4 ° Stormo Caccia, al col. Urbano Floreani, with whom we have been closely associated, by virtue of your previous position as Head of Public Information Office at the General Office of the Head of the Air Force.

Coming from the Mars IV course of the Aeronautical Academy, and graduated in Aeronautical Sciences, he has a career as an interceptor at the 5 ° Stormo Caccia in Cervia where he was also commander of the 23 ° Gruppo Caccia and Head of Operations.

In Grosseto he receives the "witness" from col. Marco Lant, also from the Mars IV course and with whom he shared 5 years of "Frecce Tricolori" National Aerobatic Team.

To this already remarkable career, summarized by the decorations that adorn the uniform of col. Floreani and who remember his participation in the campaigns of Bosnia, Kosovo and Albania with a silver war badge of the hunting specialty, complete his military curriculum a period at the Combat Forces Command, while the pilot curriculum can boast the particularity of having militated also in a second prestigious aerobatic team, that of the Orus Team (“Devils”, with or without Breitling sponsor in the name).

Using SF-260 in a large acrobatic training is much more difficult than using MB-339 Frecce Tricolori because of the poor power / weight ratio and the difficulties inherent in the propeller of this magnificent trainer. This activity, carried out by a pilot having the qualification to well 4 supersonic fighter aircraft (T-38, F-104, F-16 - of which he was also an instructor - and now EF2000) so different from they, but especially from the SF-260 demonstrate uncommon aviation skills.

In his role with which we have been interfacing for four years, we appreciated the profound knowledge of any aspect related to his armed strength, combined with just as modesty and sincerity, and despite that our role as independent press has sometimes created some moment of tension , has always welcomed us with friendship and availability.

Thank you, therefore, commander Floreani, please accept our sincere congratulations for this deserved important recognition of his great professionalism.

We can not not extend our best wishes to col. Marco Lant, also from the Mars IV course of the Aeronautical Academy, and graduated in Aeronautical Sciences, well known in Italy for having taken "the world's largest tricolor" anywhere from 2000 to 2011 and even as commander of 313 Acrobatic Training Group, coming from previous operational employment on "Tornado" aircraft at the 154 ° Group of 6 ° Stormo di Ghedi.

Numerous acknowledgments also received for col. Lant, including the NATO medal for operations in the former Yugoslavia and a bronze war badge for operations Allied Force e Deliberate Force for the hunting specialty; Russian silver badge of Military Pilot and First Instance Training Medal of the Syrian Arab Republic. Acknowledgments that confirm what has been announced since the Mars IV course of the Air Force Academy in which it was declared head-course.

After the command of the "Frecce Tricolori" and before that of the 4 ° Stormo was at the IV Department (Logistics) of the general staff as deputy head of the 3 ° Office "Unmanned vehicles and systems" and then president of the Group of Project Joint Strike Fighter and then again vice-head of the Office "" Vehicles and piloted weapon systems ".

Although we do not know yet what new responsibility will be entrusted to him, we are sure that this will be adequate for such a curriculum of excellence and heterogeneity of military and aeronautical skills.
