General Vecciarelli becomes the new director of the European Air Group

Wednesday 17 January air general Javier Salto, chief of staff of the Army of the Aire, has passed the deliveries of director of the European Air Group to the general of air squad Enzo Vecciarelli, chief of staff of the Air Force. The handover ceremony took place at the headquarters of the European Air Group in High Wycombe, in the United Kingdom, in the presence of delegations from Italy and Spain, defense and aeronautical workers from various EAG nations. and of the permanent staff of the EAG. 
The ceremony was particularly important, as it took place in the twentieth year of the existence of the EAG as an organization made up of 7 nations.

The position of director is occupied by the chiefs of staff of the EAG aviation with a two-year rotation.

During the ceremony, Air General Salto highlighted the substantial progress the EAG is making in the field of air power and expressed its gratitude to the representatives of the various aeronautics and permanent staff for their work. He also reserved special thanks for his work to the previous deputy director, air brigadier general Giacomo De Ponti and to the current deputy director, air commodore Robert Adang, under whose mandate the EAG has embarked on new design areas, including the launch of the Combined Air Interoperability Program.

In assuming the position of director, the general of the aerial team Vecciarelli has underlined how for twenty years now the EAG is playing a vital role in promoting a closer military cooperation and promoting initiatives focused on the interoperability among its members. 
The new director also expressed his ambition to further develop EAG support at both strategic and political levels.

The European Air Group brings together the air forces of seven nations: Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Spain. The group's mission is to provide solutions for interoperability between the participating air forces, so that they can operate as a whole in all phases of the conflict. It acts under the direction of one steering group composed of the heads of the seven aeronautics, whose president coincides with the director of the EAG. The EAG interacts with a dense network of contacts and cooperates with a number of other nations and multinational organizations to achieve concrete results at the tactical and operational levels, which are of direct and lasting benefit for its members.

The general airliner Vecciarelli becomes director at a time when the Group is involved in many projects in four main areas: Aerial Operations, Systems of Communication and Information / Cyber, Protection of Forces and Logistics. Furthermore, the Group has recently kicked off the new one Combined Air Interoperability Program, which aims to meet the challenges of the future posed by combined 4 ^ and 5 ^ generation air systems operations.
