The press conference for the presentation of the start of a stage of the. Was held today in the hangar of the Frecce Tricolori in Rivolto Giro d'Italia 2020. In fact, just from inside the military airport, home of the 2 ° Stormo of the Italian Air Force, and for the first time in the history of the Giro, one of the most important stages of the 103 ^ edition of the pink race will start. A year full of appointments for the Friuli base: in 2020, in fact, will also celebrate the 60 ^ acrobatic season of PAN (National Acrobatic Team), which will culminate in Rivolto with a major air show open to all fans of flight and aerial acrobatics. This is how the fruitful collaboration between the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, the Air Force and the RCS Sport group continues.

In the last decade, twice the Frecce Tricolori have accompanied the Giro d'Italia: in the 2009 during the passage of the race right on the Rivolto track and in the 2014 when the Corsa Rosa closed in Trieste.

The president of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, Massimiliano Fedriga said: "President a few weeks ago, last year I had the privilege of attending the spectacular stage of Zoncolan, in the margin of which I expressed the hope that the link between Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Giro d'Italia could be strengthened starting from the following editions. Today, announcing this new important event fills me with pride, aware that the union between our extraordinary territory and a world brand like the Giro represents a winning combination on more goals ".

The col. Andrea Amadori, commander of the 2nd Wing, said in his speech that "the 2020 for the Air Force will be an important year. Right here at Rivolto, the Armed Forces will celebrate the 60 ^ acrobatic season of the Frecce Tricolori and will do so by opening the military airport to all the fans of the flight. Collaborations alongside imported partners such as the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and the RCS Group, for fascinating initiatives such as the one we presented today at the 2 ° Stormo, allow the Air Force to make known to the community the work we do daily, with humility and sense of duty at the service of the country ".

The magg. Gaetano Farina, commander of the 313 ° Acrobatic Training Group - Frecce Tricolori he emphasized as "extending the longest Tricolor in the world once again on the Giro d'Italia will be a great pride for us. It will be even more so because it will be done at home during the year in which we will celebrate the 60 ^ acrobatic season of the Frecce Tricolori. Passion, traditions, dedication and teamwork are the fundamental values that distinguish and characterize the National Aerobatic Team as well as cycling and the Giro d'Italia."

Paolo Bellino, CEO of RCS Sport said: "The Giro d'Italia is a growing event for the RCS group and we want to develop year after year. Also next year we will have almost 200 televisions connected in the 5 continents that will allow us to reach a potential audience of over 800 millions of people. High quality images will be transmitted, focused both on the sporting and on the landscape, artistic and cultural aspects that are the excellences of Italy as are the Aeronautica Militare and the Frecce Tricolori ".

Mauro Vegni, director of the Tour of Italy underlined as: "announcing this departure, for the first time in the history of the Giro d'Italia from a military base of the Air Force, is an honor for me. The Frecce Tricolori are a great added value that will also give prestige to the Giro d'Italia 2020 as they have already done in the recent past. I remember the acrobatics and the tricolor that passed over our heads in 2009 - when with the race we passed right from the track of this airport or in 2014 when the Frecce Tricolori colored the final of the Giro in Trieste. We have a historical relationship with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region that has been consolidated in recent decades with departures and arrivals of great depth and with great winners such as Froome last year on the Zoncolan or the spectacular epilogue of the Giro in Trieste in 2014. Organize this departure, unique in history, it shows that the synergy between the Corsa Rosa, Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Air Force and all the institutions involved is once again winning ".

Enzo Cainero, promoter of the Friulian stages of the Giro d'Italia said that "this new project is born of the effective collaboration - which I now have in common - with the Region, the Frecce Tricolori and RCS and I want to thank them for their trust. In the last decade the Frecce Tricolori have performed at the Giro twice, once every 5 years (2009 and 2014), and could not miss in the 2020 when they will have a very important occasion to celebrate.
