Yesterday ended the "Cyber Eagle 2018", a cyber defense exercise organized by the Air Force logistic command with the aim of training armed force units to adequately respond to cyber threats. The exercise, while remaining faithful to the predominantly procedural approach of previous editions, has been enriched with technical and operational content, measuring itself with complex scenarios that involved the beating heart of the armed force: flocks. The direct involvement, with live training events, of two departments of the national air defense - the 4 ° flock of Grosseto and the 36 ° flock of Gioia del Colle - is the main novelty of the Cyber Eagle 2018, unique in its genre, thanks to which integrated training activities were carried out involving more than 3.000 military and 2.000 computer equipment in the three armed forces departments.
During the exercise a team of soldiers, experts in the cyber sector of the Re.SIA (Automated Information Systems Department) of the Acquasanta - Rome, simulated dozens of critical events - from malware to infiltrate military networks, to cases of disclosure of operational data, phishing e-mails and data exfiltration from computers - to which the CIRT (Computer Incident Response Team), of the two involved Storms, had to cope with adequate defensive actions that were complex and coordinated with all the components of the respective departments. start from the chain of command, without neglecting the legal and communication aspects.
