On Wednesday 28 November, the "Interforze Band" of the Military Presidium of Bari performed, in the presence of the main civil and military authorities, in a concert celebrating the "Centenary of the Great War" in the evocative setting of the Petruzzelli Theater in Bari. The evening is was conducted by the journalist Michele Cucuzza. The program, which excited the numerous guests present, saw the performance of symphonies and operatic arias from the historical period of the Great War and the participation of "Pietro Quirino & L'ensamble mandolinistico Neapolitan" directed by Maestro Mauro Squillante. The main theme is the reading of authentic “letters from the front”.
The concert, performed exceptionally by a band complex of 95 elements of all the Armed Forces, Guardia di Finanza and Polizia di Stato, was a favorable occasion to highlight the unity and unity of intent of those who swore loyalty to the Republic and its Institutions pledge themselves with honor to defend them up to the extreme sacrifice. Favorable opportunity to point out, also, the usual integration between Armed Forces and Police Forces, daily committed, with their own peculiarities, in the pursuit of the common goal "serving the country".
The band was formed by bringing together the personnel of the Military Bands of the departments operating in the area.
In particular, the Fanfare of the Command of the Schools of the AM / 3ª Air Region of Bari took part, to which were added elements of the Pinerolo Mechanized Brigade Band, of the Carabinieri of the Legion Puglia Command, of the Allievi della Guardia Legion of Finance, the Fanfare of the SOUTH Maritime Command of Taranto and the Fanfare of the State Police. For the occasion, in the foyer of the theater the exhibition entitled "The Great War - Faith and Value" organized by the Military Command Army Puglia has been set up and enriched by uniformological elements made available by the Commandments of the Military Presidium of Bari.
As usual, the Interforze Concert is also linked to solidarity initiatives that highlight the link between the Armed Forces operating in Puglia and the territory that hosts them. This year, among the many companies that develop volunteer and solidarity projects, the Italian Association against Leukemia has been identified. The evening was, therefore, also an opportunity to raise awareness on the need to promote activities in support of research against leukemia and assistance to the sick and their families. Dr. Giorgina Specchia, President of the Scientific Committee of the Bari Section of the Italian Association against Leukemia has better illustrated the aims and achievements of the Bari AIIL.
At the end of the evening, the General of Air Squadron Umberto Baldi, as Commander of the Military Presidium of Bari, thanked everyone and underlined how "this initiative, now in its twenty-first edition, is an opportunity to weld the strong bond of the Armed Forces with the institutions and the city of Bari, through a pleasant musical moment and at the same time is a good opportunity to remember and try to transmit, especially to new generations, the authentic meanings of such a dramatic historical event, which was the First World War .
