Commemorate the fallen "LYRA 34"

On Tuesday 5 September, a delegation of the 46 ^ Pisa air brigade, led by commander, Brigadier General Girolamo Iadicicco, went to Mount Zec, near Sarajevo, to pay tribute to the fallen of the G222 "Lyra 34" of the Aeronautica Militare, at 25 years since the demolition took place in those places, the 3 September 1992. Along with the staff of the 46 Air Brigade, the relatives of the fallen went to the site.

The flag-raising ceremony, with the Italian national anthem performed by the fanfare of the Bosnian armed forces, followed by Silence, sealed the ceremony, which was attended by the Italian ambassador to Sarajevo, in addition to the apostolic nuncio of Sarajevo if Msgr. Luigi Pezzuto.

The ceremony took place in front of the monument in memory of the four fallen aviators, which bears the following inscription: "In memory of Marco Betti, Marco Rigliaco, Giuseppe Buttaglieri and Giuliano Velardi, Gold Medals for Military Valor, Fallen because others live - Cieli BiH, 3 settembre 1992"And continuing, transcribed also in Bosnian-Croatian and Serbian language:"... During the ceremony, General Iadicicco read out the message from the Minister of Defense, Senator Roberta Pinotti, who, recalling the names of the four airmen who disappeared on duty, underlined how "at a distance from 25 years the memory of our fallen is more alive than ever in our hearts and in our memory, the indelible example of that noble tradition of peace and solidarity that has always animated our military, even in hostile and distant theaters.
