The "Bulgarian Horse" operation kicks off

Quattro Euro Fighter of the Air Force, piloted by crews of the 4 °, the 36 ° and the 37 ° Stormo, which took off from the military airport of Grosseto, landed on the Bulgarian base of Graf Ignatievo, to start the Enanched Air Policing operation in Bulgaria called "Bulgarian Horse".

The operation aims to preserve NATO airspace by increasing and integrating Bulgarian air defense activity.

The Italian assets will implement the Bulgarian Airspace surveillance service until the middle of October by flying alongside the MiG-29 aircraft supplied to the Sofia Air Force.

The TFA commander pointed out that "the Italian Air Force is proud to cooperate with the Bulgarian Air Force to preserve NATO airspace, as part of the Alliance's comprehensive integrated defense system. This is an opportunity for both to increase interoperability and knowledge."

The TFA 4 ° Stormo, set up on the Graf Ignatievo air base, thanks to a advanced team logistic formed by the 3ª division of the logistic command of the Air Force, by the 3 ° Stormo of Villafranca and by the 4ª brigade telecommunications and systems for air defense and assistance to the flight of Borgo Piave, will be directly dependent on the Interoperable Summit Operations Command.
