The joint exercise between the 9 ° Stormo of Grazzanise (CE) and the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps (CNSAS) of the Molise Region was successfully completed.

A helicopter HH212 of the 21 ° "Tiger" group of the 9 ° Stormo of Grazzanise (CE), commanded by the pilot Colonel Nicola Lucivero, has made sorties from the base of Campochiaro (CB) for the search and rescue training on Mount Matese.

Avioimbarchi, releases and recoveries with winch in mountain environment, even from rocky walls, were the pre-eminent and peculiar activities of today's exercise, which allowed both the crews of the "prancing horse" and the men and women of the CNSAS to operate in synergy maximizing the training return.

Two crews alternated to allow the 13 Alpine Rescue operators divided into 3 teams to descend into the mountain gorges under the guidance of the regional manager Mariano Arcaro.

This type of search and rescue exercises (SAR - Search and Rescue) named SATER (SAR-TERRA) are carried out periodically during the year within the framework of an agreement between the Air Force and the Alpine and National Speleological Rescue aimed at maintaining capacity in the Air Rescue sector.

After a preparatory phase of preparation for the activity, which took place through a detailed description briefing pre-flight, the aircraft headed to the high mountains to simulate the recovery of people dispersed in an impervious environment.

This type of exercise aims to refine the ability of integration and interoperability between the different components called to compete in complex and sensitive research and first action, during natural disasters that can occur on the national territory.

In January and August 2017, in fact, the crews of the 9 ° Stormo intervened, precisely in the context of the Search and Rescue of injured and dispersed in two particularly relevant events and respectively on the occasion of the overwhelming of the Hotel Rigopiano by an avalanche on the Gran Sasso d'Italia and on the island of Ischia to rescue the population hit by the earthquake.
