The 29 March ended at the Brindisi Airport Detachment, the 1 ° course of BLS-D (Basic Life Support - Defibrilator).
The BLS (in Italian basic support for vital functions) is a first aid technique that includes cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and a sequence of basic support actions for vital functions).
The course, organized by the local Infirmary of Corps with the support of the 118 Sanitary Rescue of Brindisi, took place in 15 sessions and allowed the formation of basic life support and qualification for the use of external semiautomatic defibrillators (AEDs) supplied with the department, of about 200 women and men of the messapico department and of the organizations of the AM supported.
The didactic activity managed by the 118 Health Rescue instructor staff of the capital city, has set itself the teaching of the intervention modalities to be adopted in case of first aid, to deal with accidents, injuries and emergency situations which, often occur in the workplace, at home and in everyday life. The learners were enabled to use the Semiautomatic Defibrillator and inserted in the regional database for the intervention in case of need also in favor of the community.
Satisfaction for the commander of the Detachment, Colonel Gioacchino Cassarà who, at the end of the activity, thanked the Director of the 118 of Brindisi, dr. Massimo Leone for the fruitful and important collaboration, and subsequently delivered the emblem of the department to the instructor staff present.
"It is important and necessary that our women and men are properly trained and periodically trained, to intervene in an informed and prepared manner in case of need for keep an injured person alive and prevent possible complications pending the arrival of qualified rescue, also thanks to the use of the defibrillator, given the widespread diffusion in all military areas, in public places and in the social sphere of this important life-saving device " .
This was stated by the commander of the Detachment, Colonel Gioacchino Cassarà, during his speech on the occasion of the closure of the 1 ° BLS-D Course in the presence of the 118 health personnel and course attenders.
"Education and training - added the commander - they play a fundamental role in the activities of the Armed Forces, as they guarantee the acquisition of increasingly qualified skills and competences for the satisfaction of operating standards of excellence, and that they can be made available to the community when necessary ".
The Brindisi Detachment, which reports to the Logistic Command Support Service, provides 24 hours on 24, 365 days a year, the civil aviation weather service, assistance for passing aircraft belonging to NATO countries and logistical support and administrative to the Armed Forces of the Brindisi area, it also ensures assistance to the United Nations present on the grounds of the Detachment from the 1994.
The department also guarantees national sovereignty in relation to the presence of SEON on the grounds of the former USAF base, overseeing, at the same time, the application of the specific bilateral agreement signed in the 2007.
