The sector of rotated combat vehicles is evolving. In fact, in addition to the signing of the contract for the purchase of the new CENTAURO II, the new FRECCIA EVO has just been presented.

It will be a vehicle that is profoundly different than the FRECCIA of the first generation. The hull will be redesigned, as regards the conformation and protection, on the model of CENTAURO II. As far as the armament is concerned, the KBA cannon from 25 mm will be abandoned instead of a more effective piece of 30 mm, which will be installed in a two-seater turret. In this regard Leonardo is working on a weapon with electric power, a solution that allows you to have low weights and greater cadence of fire.

In addition to improvements in passive protection, the new FRECCIA can also take advantage of the active one, thanks to a system to detect and neutralize missile rockets and missiles. The same active systems, through Leonardo's American subsidiary DRS, will be implemented in the United States to equip the M-1 ABRAMS MBTs.

Given the scarcity of the Italian Defense budgets, the original ARROW will remain in service in the ranks of the future Medium Brigades for many years, however it seems paradoxical the industrial activism towards the rotated while the very critical situation of the means on tracks appears of the all ignored.
