Leonardo will provide the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) with a KRONOS LAND radar for aerial surveillance for the discovery, acquisition and tracking of targets in tactical environments. The announcement took place at the BIDEC Exhibition (Bahrain International Defense Exhibition and Conference), in Bahrain from the 28 to the 30 October, where Leonardo is present with its own exhibition area.

The supply includes a series of communications equipment, as well as technical support services for one year, an extensive training program for Bengali Air Force personnel in both Italy and Bangladesh and spare parts that will allow BAF to develop a long-term operational and maintenance capability to maintain full system functionality. Entirely designed and developed by Leonardo, the KRONOS LAND is a multifunctional and multi-mission 3D radar for air surveillance and defense, based on the latest generation AESA (Active Electronic Scanning Antenna) technology. The sensor is part of the KRONOS family of radars of which the company has sold more than 40 units worldwide.

The acquisition strengthens the presence in Bangladesh, where Leonardo's technology has been repeatedly chosen starting from a RAT31 surveillance radar system supplied to the BAF for air defense.
