As part of the business development strategy in the Middle East, Fincantieri established in Doha Fincantieri Services Middle East, a subsidiary of 100% with a license from the Qatar Financial Center, which will be at the heart of all service and after-sales activities. on the Group's military ships in the country.
The company, already fully operational, has signed the agreements on the spot provided by the contract of 2016 for the supply to the Naval Forces of the Emirate of Qatar of seven surface vessels and related support services. These agreements will have the effect of supporting and developing the entire industrial fabric of the services associated with the naval and defense industries in Qatar.
Fincantieri Services Middle East, is one management company and will be involved in the management of a wide range of services, both for the platform and for the combat system, in particular for those related to the management of the life cycle of the units. It will provide both logistic services, typically developed during the design and construction of the naval unit and which include training activities, language courses, boarding e lodging, both services aimed at maintenance support, which will be carried out in the post-delivery phase during the operation of the ship.
The establishment of Fincantieri Services Middle East in the Qatari capital follows the important contract signed by Fincantieri in June 2016 with the Ministry of Defense of Qatar, worth almost 4 billion euros, for the supply of seven surface vessels, of including four corvettes over 100 meters long, an amphibious vessel (LPD - Landing Platform Dock) and two patrol vessels (OPV - Offshore Patrol Vessel) and support services in Qatar for a further 10 years after delivery of the units.
All units will be built entirely on the Group's Italian shipyards starting from 2018, ensuring several years of work and an important impact on the main Italian defense companies.
