Leonardo has announced for the year 2017 the sale of over 150 Linaps pointing systems and 100 inertial navigation units (INU - Inertial Navigation Unit) FIN 3120 for a value exceeding the 50 million.

Linaps is able to determine the artillery trajectory with a high level of precision, without the need for GPS and can be installed on any type of artillery, mortar or rocket launch platform, without the need to make significant changes to the hardware level. This is why it represents a valid endowment, at competitive costs, to significantly improve the capabilities of both modern and existing systems.

Linaps guarantees a sophisticated ability to control the shot and a very high level of precision, greatly limiting the risk of the so-called "friendly fire". Each Linap contains a FIN3120 inertial navigation system which, by means of a rotating movement, precisely measures the position, azimuth and elevation of the weapon system. The FIN3120 unit can be integrated autonomously even on platforms that already have the other elements of a built-in shooting control system, such as a human-machine interface.

Linaps is a proven system on the battlefield, serving for several years in the Armed Forces of Great Britain, Canada, New Zealand, UAE, Oman, South Africa, Thailand and Malaysia. It was the first digital system to be deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan on the British L118 cannon and on the Canadian M777. The platforms that mount the Linaps systems include: the M777 155 mm self-propelled gun from BAE Systems, the self-propelled M109 and L118 / L119 from 105 mm, the G5 / G6 trailed artillery systems from 155 mm from Denel Land Systems.
