From 25 August to 22 September in Djibouti, the French Army Technical Service (STAT), the French DGA (Direction Générale de l'Armement), with the support of MBDA, carried out an evaluation campaign of the ground combat missile system. 5th generation MMP. The objective of the operational tests was to verify the suitability of the MMP weapon system for use in semi-desert areas.

The objectives were achieved with all the missiles launched. The results confirm the reliability of the weapon system in a hot environment.

Two launches were carried out by Navy commandos from an ECUME (Embarcation Commando à Usage Multiple Embarquable) rigid keelboat: two shots from the sea to a target on land and a target at sea. The MMP is the first weapon system of its class to be used on an ECUME.

In Djibouti, the French forces find climatic conditions similar to those encountered in the current operational areas of the Sahel-Saharan belt.

The results obtained during this campaign will allow the full deployment of the MMP weapon system in the operation Barkhane, in the next weeks.
