The Libyan web and Minister Salvini in front of the Spider ...

A few weeks ago I was sitting at the table with a Turkish businessman: my company and his company were negotiating a partnership for the Sublime Porta market. In contravention of the label and having finished them, I could not give him the business card where I am clearly indicated as founder and administrator of mine limited company. I knew that he was the same for his, but I did not want to waste too much time in pleasantries, to go immediately to the point. Instead, he cheated, asked questions about the governance of my company, went into discussions on the wI'm who of her. In short, at one point I made a U-turn in the conversation and I went into explaining to him that I was the one in charge in my business and that is MY business: I am the last link in the (not very long) chain of command and I do not respond to others. To his great satisfaction, he widened his mouth to a smile and commented: it's perfect, we're the two bosses!

This excursus to ask me a question: but when the various Minniti, Gentiloni, Salvini and Trenta have been in Libya in recent years, they knew who they are (or were) their interlocutors, who they answered - apart from the Libyan people that do not even exist, like any of the Belgians - within the current power structure of Libya and especially if, even if apparently placed as the last ring, they were really T and if so, were there serious prospects that would remain?

The question can also be put in other terms: we are dealing with Libya in a short-term perspective, negotiating with the counterpart that makes us more comfortable, even if it lacks real decision-making power and perhaps to disregard all the others, aiming only throw in the eyes of public opinion the false problem of illegal immigration but without a medium-long term perspective, without evaluating the next future scenarios of power in our former colony?

The writer finds the position of Minister Trenta in front of his Tripolitic counterpart:

"We share the same house, the Mediterranean, and Italy wants to do more for the stability of the region and the country. But we also share an important problem: the migratory flows that bring instability to Italy and Libya. We need to stop trafficking in human beings and illegal immigration. In this sense, given that I consider myself a pragmatic person, I believe that Italy must intensify its efforts and is ready to do so, according to the needs and needs of the Libyan people ".

Especially like the second part of the speech, given that - whatever they think some - Libya is not a sandbox full of illegal immigrants: in addition to being almost an Emirate for many years under Gaddafi, is an economic partner to say the least strategic of Italy, upset by a civil war caused by Italian ineptitude and insipidity even before the greed of the United Kingdom, France and the United States and by Islamist interferences. It is a country in which Italy has historical responsibilities, which we have always tried to hide like dust under the carpet: it is for us what Israel represents for Germany, to understand each other. But nobody asks the visiting card to the interlocutor: we go to deal with the "mayors" of Minniti or to sell Hotspot with Salvini, but we do not pose the problem of wI'm who. Yeah, who really commands? Well, our bearded interior minister met him: we like to think that he has noticed, to be in the presence of someone who has the last word, for real.

Who knows if Salvini, welcomed in Cairo by President Al Sisi himself (while in Moscow Putin has even denied the handshake in public) has discussed something other than the issue of illegal immigrants and terrorists? If not, someone should have included in his dossier references to the mineral and energy resources of Libya, which are nothing short of strategic. After all, he had before him The Big Boss, not only of Egypt but also of at least two thirds of Libya itself: as such, Al Sisi has granted him the high honor of recognizing him as Lord Protector of the Italian government and in this way welcomed and honored him. I hope that Salvini has noticed and that he has not only talked about immigrant boats and terrorists to repatriate: it does not happen every day to be in front of the spider in the middle of the web.
