Alpine and red zone

It is news of a few days that a contingent of Alpine "Taurinense" has reached the Genoese west to garrison the areas of access to the fateful red zone, circumscribed under the remains of the Morandi bridge. The intervention of the "Penne Nere" had already been scheduled by the Coordination Assistance Center in order to lighten the work of the Law Enforcement committed 24 hours on 24 in the management of the difficult situation created in the Ligurian capital after the 14 August.

The collapse of the "Brooklyn Bridge" - as was known among the Genoese - has split the city in two congesting the traffic to the west with serious repercussions on all roads in and around the city center. Once again, the Army must intervene in a case of utmost urgency by compensating, with its own means and men, to the lack of an inadequate effective of policemen, carabinieri and cantunê (the firemen). The Alpine 100 of the Taurinense they were housed in a structure located in the port area and will take turns to monitor the streets involved in the forced eviction of hundreds of people who, after that damn August day, remained homeless, without a past and with a very long future uncertain.

The "Country System" has worked, in the sense that the municipal and regional administration of Liguria have moved in the right way, but the work to be done is still a lot. Genoa is not a city accustomed to surrender easily, its history is full of episodes in which the Ligurians have opposed fierce resistance to all adversities, even those imposed by the foreign invader. A city whose tradition - more folkloristic than documented - rests on characters like Balilla, but which includes more important episodes such as the eternal struggle with the uncomfortable near Sabaudo, the long resistance during the siege of the 1800 by English and Austrians, up to the Resistance with the autonomous liberation of the city from the Nazi-Fascist forces.

The Genoese - renowned for a spirit not really welcoming - have once again proven the groundlessness of such a reckoning and will also do it towards the Alpine troops who, let us remember, are a body that have "conscript" thousands of Ligurians during the years of the lever. The so-called "mugugno", also born from the maritime tradition of the glorious Republic, is nothing but a way to be brave, to never be to what others say, but above all it is a movement of sincerity and sincerity that has always marked the Genoese spirit.

The speeches of Governor Toti and mayor Bucci have been received by the Genoese population as a cry of hope, but perhaps it is worth reminding everyone how the Republic of Genoa for centuries managed the economies of the Spanish Empire, creating the banks and a commercial network so much to become a system that prevails throughout Europe. Now that the patriciate of the Republic has ceased to dominate and even the Spanish gold does not shine any longer, the Ligurians remain their story, their pride of rude people, but sincere that always helps and shuns the wait with arms folded doing nothing.
