With the beginning of the new year we set ourselves new, ambitious, interesting goals, but very rarely we let ourselves go to reflection; it is relegated to the final balance sheets, to the final exam, in short, to the so-called drawing the line to find out the sum. Today we try to overturn the clichés in an attempt to carry out a preventive reflection on a particular theme - time.
It would be superfluous to start from semantics, better a practical adaptation of the concept: in all the schools of war in the world the lesson n.1 states that time is a constraint, as for the lesson n. 2 the unrepeatability, the non-expansion, nor the possibility of compressing this resource is highlighted. In short, for military things, as for all the rest of human knowledge, time is very serious.
What news then in these lines? Probably none, only findings, but as anticipated considerations from the taste of the budget rather than forecasts. Going down to the level of the news that perhaps will become history, the newly arrived year 2016 shows us that Russia in the new strategic concept elects the USA and NATO as the first enemies of the Federation, that Belgium and France of multi-ethnic policies find themselves filled with doubts about the choices of the past, as well as frightened and blocked by a latent terrorism, while Germany blinds Monaco on New Year's Day, a strange case, after being exposed in a possible leading role for the Libyan crisis.
To read such news it seems that time and history do not teach anything and certainly history is not a didactic matter, but has hardly ever proved to be an effective tool in preparing the future, but time? Here the discourse is different, already Plato described this element as endowed with regular cyclicality, in short, "everything returns" circularly repeats itself, good as evil, errors and horrors. So what should we do to avoid getting caught up in the scandal of the past and in its tricks?
We could let the elusive immanence of the return imprison us, not at all, fortunately it is the same time to offer us with periodic cadence of the superior minds capable of knowing how to tame it without trapping it, but governing its excesses, it was so that in battle the Cesariana circumvallatio made the time perceived by the besieged a disadvantage compared to the besiegers, the same ability to manage time was demonstrated by Kennedy in the Cuban missile crisis where tactics, strategy and politics merged into a single event, in just one time.
A thousand others would be examples, but exegesis is not among the aims of the wish, because after all, speaking of the weather at the beginning of a new year is a way like any other to hope, looking to tomorrow with renewed confidence, aware of having to face the challenges of every day under the watchful eye of time, a father certainly not generous and benevolent, but in the end just because transposition of the supreme intellect and here the return to the transcendent, perhaps because deep down nobody is able of grasping the greatness of passing, no one can determine what is impregnating and equally relative.
A certainty, however, every day we have the time resource available, we must be able to make the most of it, so that it can be an advantage, so that we can live the life of besiegers and not of besieged, for these reasons 2016 Happy New Year to all and good time.
