Military issue in uniform and Trenitalia Regione Lazio: is it worth their word?

15/03/17

Last March 10, the Defense General Staff informed, by letter, all the staff about the famous question of who travels on the routes where an announcement was circulating to get up, when in uniform to give way to the paying commuters. So it is clear from the letter that in the first paragraph speaks of having requested urgent clarifications to Trenitalia TPL and in the second paragraph says, however, that by preliminary short-term talks with Trenitalia Lazio, it was known that the behavior of the military on trains has not always been irreproachable. Then the General Staff of Defense first department sensitizes the military, to the respect of the regulations in force about the behavior and the correct behavior and then to the highest able to set an example and to raise awareness of the lower level personnel.

In short, one does not understand what the military should do on trains when they wear uniform. Must they ever give way to the place? Then the uniformed soldiers are "B" series workers on the trains, but they become standard "A" when they need to fire the snow and collect the trash can.

Then the General Staff of Defense remembers the behavior and the behavior of his men feeling only a bell, that of Trenitalia. So why does not Trenitalia also raise the police in plain clothes sitting, however, do not pay the ticket?

Something is wrong and it would have been better to hear the reasons and motivations of military commuters workers in uniform who, like the other workers, get up early and come home late to serve the state that thanks to Trenitalia, keeps them standing even if with the uniform they create a frame of security, given the deterrence proper to the Armed Forces, symbol of the Republic.

Not everyone knows that in any case the agreement between Difesa and Trenitalia Lazio provides for the exchange of goods and services for free military service. This is to say that the military do not travel free, indeed Trenitalia apparently would take a counterpart from the Ministry of Defense and the Lazio Region. All this to have deterrence on the trains. Perhaps the managers of Trenitalia Lazio do not know or pretend not to know.

Long live Italy!
