Alleged trespassing in Libya: "The shy cat makes a brave mouse" (Scottish proverb)

"The news released by Tobruk is false. Our ships that are patrolling the Mediterranean within two missions were in international waters, well beyond the Libyan territorial waters"Defense Minister Roberta Pinotti said yesterday in response to accusations by the Libyan government that blamed Italy for having invaded territorial waters with three naval units.

That, after having provided aid, relief and protection for years (and up to the Libyan shores), we must also defend ourselves against accusations of a government that does not even control the garden of our own house from the rich salons is rather ridiculous.

Libya today proves that it is inexorably a failed state, forced to speak out with the weakest of friends to feel reassured by threats and internal divisions.

The permanent representative of Libya to the UN, Ibrahim Dabbashi, later tried to soften the tone by stating that there is no certain proof of the Italian encroachment and making it clear that it could have been a political move by those - like thel general Khalifa Haftar - is being set aside by the latest prelude agreements of an international intervention.

Some readers yesterday asked whether the encroachment could not have been a maneuver by our defense to test Libyan reaction capabilities. Recalling that what little loyal remained to the orders of the various Libyan governments we have provided and trained us together with other less disinterested countries, I believe that the only people who wanted to test something were the Libyans: our policy!

Faced with the devastation caused by the devastation of the Italian Catholic cemetery in Tripoli following accusations, Italy "deplored" what had happened.

Believe now that some hot head will dare to challenge our country again or to profane a sacred place like a cemetery again?

Such an affront could even lead us to a sober "indignation". Surely accompanied by terrifying strokes of ... "cough"?
