I was in Syria when I saw up YouTube images of a Saudi column towards the northern Jordanian border. Perhaps it may seem strange to some candid souls but at that moment, despite being in a country at war, I felt safer than elsewhere.

It was clear that an armed intervention of land would be justified only as a reaction to a violent adequate cause.

The attack in Ankara, with its 28 victims, arrived with perfect timing. The authors would then be those who served Erdogan: Kurds.

Now awaiting an attack in Saudi Arabia, what comforts me - but at the same time disturbing - is the non-sympathetic attitude of the NATO countries towards the Turkish abuses that we have verified in Syrian territory: terrorists, supplies, cover fire, medical aid ...

The Alliance distanced itself from the Ottoman actions that boldly assumed its protection already at the time of the overthrow of the Russian Sukhoi in November. In recent days, NATO has stressed the automatic non-applicability of article 5 of the treaty (collective defense) in the event of an escalation with Russia.

Bene - it will be said - no one wants to lose his life for a cause like that of the Turkish government (and not "Turkish") which, frankly, is impossible to share.

After all, what could today force countries like Italy to change course?
