Navy Riflemen: three years of Odyssey

10/02/15

In a week, the non-commissioned officers of the Navy, the Fusiliers of Marina Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone, will begin their fourth year of imprisonment in India without a proven indictment having been produced against them.

Three years as a hostage in Delhi that has prevailed and continues to do the most basic human right, first of all the limitation of personal freedom without there being a sanction of a court of justice.

An arbitrariness accepted by Italy, condescending and submissive in these three years, ready to yield national sovereignty and to renounce the prerogatives that International Law grants to all the States of the world.

Until a few weeks ago, albeit sporadically, some news about the affair arrived, then suddenly the silence justified, it seems, by the silent work that should be underway between the Intelligence of the two countries. A conspiratorial silence so as not to disturb the parties as if it were dealing with the exchange of terrorists or criminals, rather than claiming the rights that the whole international community recognizes in Italy.

A silence wanted and reaffirmed by the Prime Minister and respected by the former President of the Republic - Head of the Armed Forces according to the article 87 of our Constitution - who did not even greeted the two military hostage of India in order not to break the quiet .

Only the new President, Prof. Sergio Mattarella, has not observed the deliveries of the Premier and has reminded the Parliament and Italy that the country is in debt to two of its fellow military citizens in service, thus honoring the high position given to him. from the Constitution.

We, in the utmost respect of Senator Napolitano, prefer to follow the path traced by President Mattarella and we want to remember once again the series of omissions that have been committed to the detriment of our two soldiers.

We did this over the past three years and summarizing the highlights in some pages available to anyone who wanted to read the link: http://www.stefanomontanari.net/sito/blog/2672-il-caso-dei-maro-trattenuti-in-india.html, hosted by the blog (http://www.stefanomontanari.net/sito/) which reports a significant thought by Leopardi on which to meditate.

"The good and the generous are also hated because ordinarily they are sincere, and they call things by their names. Fault not forgiven by mankind, who never hates so much who hurts, nor the evil itself, as the one who names it. So that many times, while he who hurts gets riches, honors and power, whoever names him is drawn into the gallows, since men are ready to suffer either from others or from heaven anything, as long as in words they are saved ”.

Pages in which it is narrated without any comment, so that everyone can freely draw their own conclusions, even those who do not consider India's behavior towards Italy and those who, from the beginning, have been "impertinent and outrageous" managed the affair giving precedence to the economic interests of lobbyists and individuals.
