The 5 and 6 December, in Paris, took place the fourth edition of the "Paris Open Source Summit", continues in France the change in the world of information technology and cybersecurity.

The ANSSI (Agence Nationale de la Sécurité des Systèmes d'Information) participated in the event presenting several novelties based on the CLIP OS project, Linux-based operating system and now arrived at the 5 version after more than ten years of development (project started in the 2006). ANSSI has developed the system to meet the main need to allow the processing of information on the same computer of different levels of classification, a system that can also be used on portable devices significantly increasing security.

With the new CLIP OS 5 alpha version, ANSSI gives companies and IT solutions providers the opportunity to contribute to the development and improvement of the system in order to respond to new security challenges (under the Open Source LGPL 2.1 + license). The documentation and the code are available in English and this shows how openness is really felt.

The initiative falls within the framework of the activities that France is conducting to push Europe towards greater independence in the technological and IT sector in particular but also for the renewal of Public Administrations.

To remember that already for several years the French Gendarmerie has adopted a solution on Linux called Ubuntu GendBuntu while he has adopted the free writing system open Office.

One consideration on these systems: Open Source it does not mean "without cost" ... even if generally speaking the costs are lower.
